BC Research Scientist Wins Federal “5NR Science Award to Leaders in Sustainable Development” Dr. Steven Splinter, founding President & CEO of Radient Technologies Inc. and former Director of Chemical & Environmental Processes at BC Research, has been awarded federal recognition for his contributions to the development and commercialization of "Microwave-Assisted Processes", or MAP™. Radient is a BC Research spin-off company created to commercialize the MAP™ extraction process.
MAP™ is a revolutionary method of solvent extraction that reduces production time, energy consumption, solvent consumption and waste production. It also increases yields and product purity while opening the door to the production of novel products via improved extract selectivity. BC Research has the world-wide rights to use, market and sub-license MAP™ for industrial applications. Dr. Splinter received the award along with other members of the MAP™ team.
The 5NR Science Awards are designed to pay tribute to outstanding contributions towards sustainable development across five federal government departments: Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada; Environment Canada; Fisheries and Oceans Canada; Health Canada; and Natural Resources Canada. Details can be found on the Government of Canada website. |
