Flax SDG 20% is a natural ingredient manufactured in Canada with Radient’s proprietary technology for the extraction and purification of flax lignans derived from flaxseed meal using ethanol and water. It is standardized to 20% lignans as secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG).
Flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) is is one of the richest sources of dietary lignans identified to date, being particularly rich in the lignan secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG). Flaxseed contains greater than 100 times the levels of SDG compared to other food sources such as bramble, soy beans, garlic, and tea. SDG is the main exogenous precursor of the biologically active mammalian lignans enterolactone and enterodiol and is known to exhibit a number of positive health benefits.
