Romano Robusto, LL.B, B.C.L, BSc. - Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Romano Robusto has worked in the life sciences industry since 1988 and has held a broad range of positions including Intellectual Property, Sales, Business Development, Strategic Planning and Senior Management. Complimenting Mr. Robusto's extensive corporate experience, he most recently worked within the life sciences division of the SGF, the economic development arm of the Quebec Government, responsible for investing development capital into companies that had achieved commercial viability. From 1988 to 1996 he held numerous positions within the Diagnostic division of Biochem Pharma, during which time the Division grew to $150 Million in revenues and 600 employees worldwide. He holds degrees in Common and Civil law from McGill University, a BSc in Physical Therapy from McGill University and majored in Biochemistry at Concordia University.
Steven Splinter, PhD. President - Chief Technology Officer and Director
Dr. Splinter was the founding President of Radient. He is experienced in strategic planning, technical assessment and development of process technologies, business leadership, and engineering project management. Prior to founding Radient, Dr. Splinter served as Director of Chemical & Environmental Processes at BC Research, where he built and managed a team of scientists, engineers and technologists providing contract R&D services to various clients in the area of chemical and biochemical process development. Dr. Splinter is an expert in interfacial phenomena, having earned a Ph.D. in Engineering Science in 1994. He has authored or co-authored numerous scientific publications and patents and has been invited speaker at international science conferences. In 2003, he was awarded a prestigious 5NR Science Award for Leadership in Sustainable Development for his work in advancing MAP(TM).
Kevin Dodds, CMA - Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Dodds has expertise in corporate finance, international trade, and accounting. He is the Chief Financial Officer of Noram Engineering and Constructors Ltd. And is responsible for structuring and managing Noram's private equity investments. Kevin is a director and officer of several affiliates. Prior to Noram, he was Financial Services Manager at Export Development Canada in Ottawa.
Dr. Sagar Kadali - Director of Research
Dr. Kadali has over twenty years experience in senior research and management roles with early stage drug companies and natural product extract companies. He has extensive knowledge of the isolation of natural medicinal products and fundamental organic chemistry, having developed numerous processes for the extraction, purification and isolation of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical ingredients from natural sources. He is also experienced with the management and implementation of Quality Systems and GMP processes.
Brian Lam, MBA - Operations Manager
Mr. Brian Lam has a M. Sc. in Chemistry and an MBA from University of Toronto. Prior to joining Radient, he has extensive experience in the food, chemicals, and instrumentation industries in areas including applications chemist, product management, sales/marketing, as well as international business.
George Cook
Mr Cook was born and educated in Scotland before emigrating to Canada. He founded NORAM Engineering and Constructors in 1988 and as CEO has guided NORAM into one of the most successful engineering and technology development companies in North America. Prior to forming NORAM, he served for many years as a Vice President of a medium sized international engineering contractor. He has a successful track record both in leading process development companies through startup phases to commercialization and to global penetration. Mr Cook presently is a director of several companies including BC Research, Fuel Cells Canada, Axton Incorporated and several European companies.
Armand Lavoie
Mr. Lavoie is Managing Director of Foragen Technologies Management Inc. Based in Saskatoon, he is responsible for the management of the fund, evaluating and managing investments in companies developing and commercializing advanced agri-food technologies. Prior to joining Foragen, he was with KPMG, a global consultancy, specializing in their life sciences practice area. In his role with KPMG, he consulted extensively with agri-life science companies in their start-up, early commercialization, and growth phases. Additionally, Mr. Lavoie consulted directly to several of the global agri-life science corporations on critical strategic and operational issues. Mr. Lavoie specializes in bio-processing, nutraceuticals and functional foods. His development expertise includes business plans, performance improvement programs, business transformation models, market assessments, strategic alliances and operational reviews. Mr. Lavoie holds a B. Sc. from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Sherbrooke/London Business School and he is a P. Ag. Mr. Lavoie has lived and worked in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Mexico.
Ian Newton
Mr. Newton was born and received his education in New Zealand, graduating with science degrees in Botany and Zoology. Following post graduate work he relocated to Canada. Mr. Newton joined Hoffmann-La Roche in 1979 holding a variety of positions including Group Director, Human Nutrition, Canada, and eventually Director of Business Development and Regulatory Affairs, DSM Nutritional Products, USA. He was responsible for the development of various nutrients, new ingredients and also directed nutrition public information programs as a resource for health professionals, academics and the media. He has also published on the dietary and nutritional aspects of vitamins, long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids and nutraceuticals in a variety of scientific journals. Now retired from DSM, Ian manages his own consulting business, Ceres Consulting, based in Markham, Ontario Canada, specializing in business and product development in the health and nutrition sector. Ian actively participates in many areas of human nutrition and is a member of the CRN, AOCS, ISSFAL, and IFT, and is involved in Advisory and Boards of Directors positions in health oriented companies, and nutrition related institutions.
