PLANT ENGINEER


Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the candidate will oversee equipment procurement and installation, equipment and plant commissioning and start-up. He or she will also be required to develop and maintain P&ID schematic drawings and equipment files. Once the facility is ready for use, the incumbent is expected to provide technical leadership in the areas of process engineering, production support and process efficiency, predictive and preventative maintenance and environmental, health and safety programs. The Plant Engineer will oversee the generation and execution of equipment-specific validation and commissioning protocols and documents, “what-if” and HAZOP assessments and plant commissioning and will assist the Director of Operations and other Managers in ensuring Plant compliance in health and safety, including monitoring and enforcement of health and safety standards, company policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline. Minimum 2 years’ experience in chemical, pharmaceutical or related industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills. Proficient in AutoCAD. Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a diverse and demanding environment.
  • Good understanding of Class 1 and Class 2 hazardous environments and Safety Code Acts as defined and administered by regulatory bodies such as ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association.
  • A working knowledge of HAZOP is desirable. A working knowledge of the requirements of ISO and GMP manufacturing environments is desirable.

SENIOR MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGIST/OPERATOR


Job description

Reporting to the Project Manager / Operations Manager, the incumbent is expected to assist in the development and execution of GMP documentation (SOPs, training programs, validation) equipment commissioning and production unit operations (extraction, isolation, purification, crystallization, drying & packaging) of bulk high-value natural ingredient compounds.

  • Complete and accurate maintenance of all documentation required for GMP compliance during manufacturing processes including, but not restricted to creation and revision of: SOP’s, Batch Production Records, Specifications, Protocols, and Controlled Forms.
  • Production of pilot and commercial lots of material in accordance to Batch Production Records and approved SOP’s under GMP.
  • Perform environmental monitoring and in process testing as identified in the manufacturing records and SOP’s.
  • Perform calibration, maintenance and validation of all equipment in the Manufacturing department including reporting any equipment malfunctions to the Manufacturing Manager and Facilities & Engineering.
  • Maintain the manufacturing area in a state of cleanliness in compliance with company procedures and policies.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment where applicable to ensure a safe and trouble free operation.
  • Exercise leadership within the manufacturing team by organizing, scheduling, training, evaluating and coordinating the work of others.
  • Train junior Manufacturing Technologists under the Company’s training program.
  • Review of batch production records and other manufacturing records in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Participation in internal and external audits as requested by Management.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management from time to time to meet the Company’s goals and objectives.
